When the Inter-Faith Council for Social Service (IFC) celebrated its 40th anniversary, I created the “Celebrating 40 at 40” campaign which recognized 40 individuals and groups who had contributed to IFC’s success. This hook ensured that local media covered the annual awards dinner where the 40 honorees were recognized.
I worked out an agreement with the Chapel Hill Herald to give the IFC 40 weekly columns that profiled each of the honorees. This resulted in weekly positive local media for IFC for nearly a year. I wrote some of these profiles and secured two UNC journalism students who volunteered to write the rest.
